Why Backup Your KeePass Database?

Regular backups are essential to protect your passwords from data loss due to hardware failure, accidental deletion, or corruption. Having a backup ensures you can always recover your passwords.

How to Backup Your Database

  1. Open your KeePass database
  2. Click "File" → "Save As"
  3. Choose a backup location (external drive, cloud storage, etc.)
  4. Save the backup with a descriptive name including the date
  5. Store backups in multiple locations for redundancy

Automatic Backup Options

KeePass can automatically create backups when you save your database. Enable this feature in Tools → Options → Advanced → Backup.

How to Restore from Backup

  1. Locate your backup file
  2. Open KeePass
  3. Click "File" → "Open"
  4. Navigate to your backup file and select it
  5. Enter your master password to open the backup
  6. Save the restored database to your preferred location
